What's more fitting on Easter than enlisting the help of a carpenter's son?
Welcome to "The Barn." Here Devon Carlock (a carpenter's son amongst other things) and Jeff Smith made some incredible stage partitions we'll use this Easter weekend. These partitions were designed by Andrew Ford - part of our creative arts team. When these partitions are finished they'll look like stained glass windows. For our Good Friday services they'll shrink the stage and create a sense of intimacy. For Easter Sunday services they'll be re-purposed - hung and lit.
Over the past years, both Devon and Jeff have used their gifts as craftsmen to help me create ambiance for our worship experiences. Here you can see Devon (shown) tracing out the design onto giant sheets of plywood. The next step is to cut out the design. They'll be painted black and then lighting gels will be affixed to the backside.
As overall producer of these experiences, I'm reminded every good creative work requires 4 things: 1) an inspired idea/design 2) an inspired process 3) a significant investment of time 4) talented & competent individuals. It also doesn't hurt to know a carpenter and his son.
